**WEEKLY SCOOP!**

It is hard to believe that we have made it to spring break! I hope you each are able to enjoy friend’s and family. When we come back to school it will fly by… it always does! It makes me sad considering I love your kiddos, but I know we will all be ready for summer. J This week we were so excited get set up for the fairy tale ball. I hope your children had a great time. They also did an excellent job completing the TPRO test. They had a lot more confidence taking it the second time around. It was exciting to see how much they have learned this school year!

**WEEKLY SCOOP!**

First, I want to thank each of you for making Spring Fling a great success. Next up… the fairy tale ball! If you received a confirmation to send in an item for the fairy tale ball please send that in ASAP! J For the fairy tale ball your child may dress up in any fairy tale costume. In the past we have seen: princesses, princes, Jack and the beanstalk, dwarfs, pigs, little bears, Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks, etc. Thanks for your help in making this a memorable experience for your child!

...Classroom News for You...

*We have wrapped up our star student rotation. I am sad that it is over. This is my first year of star student and I have loved learning about each student! Now we are having a “helper of the day” and they are able to choose a friend to be an assistant.

*Please return your sign report card as soon as possible.

*Remember that homework is not an option. It s purpose is to practice skills and to teach responsibility.

Due to the commonly known baby brain I totally forgot to post my newsletter to the blog before I left yesterday afternoon. I am certain this is okay with all of you... since you will spend this gorgeous day off and upcoming weekend playing and resting!

Smorstad's Scoop- March 12th

**WEEKLY SCOOP!**

We had a great week and enjoyed the gorgeous weather. I hope that you were able to enjoy some time outside with your families. This week we started looking at 10’s and 1’s in math. When you are talking about two digit numbers or see them in a real life situation, ask your child how many groups or tens and ones leftover there are. I encourage you to find the teachable moments at home and take advantage of them. You will be getting information about the Fairy Tale ball next week.

Next week is going to be a short week. We are going to have lots of fun and so to go along with the fun… there will be NO homework! :) Please read each evening with your child but you will not have a formal reading log.

**WEEKLY SCOOP!**

We really made it through a 5 day week! It was exciting to keep a consistent schedule in the classroom. Everyone has worked very hard and I know we are tired. It has been refreshing to get outside a little bit, and we are all hoping for good spring weather. We kicked off our fairy tale unit this week. We will be studying elements of a fairy tale with several of my childhood favorites. We will have a fairy tale ball at the end of March to celebrate all we have studied. This is tentatively planned for March 26^th.

Spring Fling Information

We will continue to collect anything “chocolate” themed for our spring fling basket. Please have all items turned in by March 10^th! Thanks for your help.
